Bobby Osmold Curry, the track coach at Forsyth Country Day School, was found guilty by a Forsyth County jury of statutory rape, four counts of statutory sexual offense and five counts of taking indecent liberties with a student, a 14-year-old who attended the school. Judgments were entered on June 15, 2001, and state prison records list two consecutive terms of 18 years 4 months to 22 years 9 months. In 2002 the N.C. Court of Appeals found no error and upheld the judgments.
