Darcie Esson, a former teacher at Elizabeth High School, pleaded guilty in June 2007 to one count of sexual assault on a child 15 to 17 years old by a person in a position of trust, involving a 17-year-old high school football player during a playoff trip to Glenwood Springs. On Dec. 13, 2007, a district judge sentenced her to 90 days in jail and 10 years to life of sex-offender-intensive-supervised probation and ordered sex offender registration.
