John Merzbacher was a teacher at the Catholic Community School, a parochial school in the Locust Point area of south Baltimore, Maryland. In 1995 a jury convicted him of the rape and sexual abuse of a student, and he was sentenced to four consecutive life terms. He remained incarcerated until he died in prison in May 2023.
