Juan Manuel Pantoja Troncoso, a girls soccer coach in the after-school program at Toro Canyon Middle School in Thermal, was convicted by a Riverside County jury in October 2025 of forcible lewd acts on a child, contacting a minor to commit a sexual offense and related counts involving five students. On February 19, 2026, he was sentenced to 61 years and four months in state prison.
