Justin Adrian, a former social studies teacher at Olathe East High School and a former Shawnee city councilmember, pleaded no contest in October 2019 to one count of aggravated battery and one count of sexual battery involving a student. In January 2020 he was sentenced to 60 days of jail 'shock time' followed by probation, and was ordered to register as a sex offender.
