Nathaniel Erfurth, a history teacher at Soldotna High School and former local teachers union president, was found guilty by a jury in August 2025 of 24 counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor and four counts of unlawful exploitation of a minor involving a former student. He was sentenced in December 2025 to 77 years and one month, with 20 years and one month to serve.
